As a digital artist, I don’t have a problem with generative AI in principle—my issue is that it was trained unethically. If you want to call yourself an AI artist and spend your time curating endless machine-generated images, more power to you—as long as you're not using my work or that of fellow artists without consent. The "artists steal from artists" argument doesn’t apply here. My art is my decision—how it’s used, where it goes, and who learns from it. I’m all for human artists studying and learning from my work, but I don’t want machines doing the same without permission. Call it petty if you want. I call it ownership. And yes, I know for a fact my art has been used to train AI models. Until models are trained ethically, I’ll keep using tools like Glaze and Nightshade on every image I post—memes, profile pics, art pieces, everything—in the hopes of poisoning just one more unethical dataset. This is the war AI companies started, and I’m here to fight it.
