Many individuals may default to relying on AI rather than applying their own intelligence and judgment to matters that require it. The potential long-term consequence is a decline in collective human intelligence, while AI continues to exponentially advance. There will undoubtedly be outliers—early adopters of this technology who may benefit and achieve increased intelligence, as well as significant financial gains. However, the vast majority of people may not experience the same benefits, unknowingly hindering their intelligence and judgment over time for convenience and quick answers. This is a similar story to what unfolded with social media: we sacrificed our time, attention spans, and mental health…in exchange for cat videos, likes, and targeted ads. Was it worth it?
