There's so much about this story that makes no sense. How did all FOUR of Uber's sensors (including the much discussed lidar) fail to read the pedestrian? Why was it travelling 5 mph over speed limit? Why was Herzberg not crossing at the crosswalk? How did she not even notice the car coming? I hate to victim blame, but I blame BOTH Uber's tech AND Herzberg, who must have been either (best case) having some sort of health issue or (worst case) suicidal.
On Edit: Or maybe (worst, worst case), she noticed it was a self-driving uber with all it's gizmos and gadgets, and was going for some sort of insurance fraud against a multi-billion dollar company.
