ChatGPT is amazing in closing the gap between the regular person and access to legal remedies. Currently dealing with a case of elder abuse, undue influence, estate fraud, insurance fraud, and self dealing as POA and then executor of the estate. Used ChatGPT to guide me to my options for legal remedies, help organize and prepare evidence, draft initial complaint, find laws relevant to my situation, and help identify steps I've missed (like sending preservation of evidence letters to hospital). The first thing I noticed when reviewing the initial complaint was that referenced case law was fake or misleading. It blows my mind the laziness an attorney would have in not double checking their filings. ChatGPT is great for turning your words and complaints into legalise as well as pointing you in the right direction to find your answers but that's about it. I've been able to read up on civil procedure and have ChatGPT make quizzes for me as I study and it has cut down the learning curve immensely. I don't think ChatGPT will replace attorneys completely but there are people like me who can use it appropriately to close the legal knowledge gap due to the fact that I'm unable to pay a $30k upfront fee for a law office to reveiw and confirm my evidence to date and I for sure can't afford the additional $100k+ that it would take to see this all the way through discovery.
