This is a MISLEADING video that gives unfair criticisms of Tesla. It makes no comparison of crash statistics for cars with Radar/Lidar/Video navigation versus pure Video navigation. It merely states that Tesla is dangerous because it navigates only by Video, but does not say anything about how dangerous competing systems are that also use Radar and Lidar. Tesla has ALWAYS made it abundantly CLEAR that drivers must always pay attention and be ready to take over, while a Tesla car is piloting itself. This video does not distinguish between Tela "Auto Pilot" and Tesla "Full Self Driving", both which require the driver to pay attention and be ready to take over. "Auto Pilot" is just a more sophisticated form of "Cruise Control"; whereas "Full Self Driving" is far more advanced and capable of navigating much more complicated city traffic. Missy Cummings' 2016 statement [01:30 in video], "There is no question that someone is going to die in this technology." [referring to autonomously driven cars] is DISINGENUOUS. Is she suggesting that nobody dies when humans are driving cars? If autonomous cars significantly reduce the number of car fatalities, then self-driving cars would be justified and they would save lives. Finally, while many criticize Tesla for autonomous cars that use video only, and not Radar/Lidar, well that is the SAME way humans have been driving for a hundred years, purely by eye and not using Radar/Lidar.
