I liked the video. As a technology, I am absolutely fascinated by how AI works and have experimented with it on my own. And I think that's fine, using it for your own enjoyment, not selling it, not trying to commercialize it, not trying to benefit from it. I maintain that's a perfectly acceptable use. Selling it, making a profit off it, representing it as your own work is not okay. At all. I've gone to some of the reddit stable diffusion subs and I'd recommend staying away after my experiences. No matter how nicely you phrase this to try to generate discussion, they're going to take it as a personal attack and start screaming at you. In short, their attitude seems to be "Agree with us 100% or you're the enemy and we will take you down." I think the technology behind AI is fascinating and I hope this gets worked out soon. It'd be so easy to create an ethical model by using art in the public domain (eg, renaissance paintings and such) as well as having an opt in for any artists who wish to contribute their work. Hell, they could even hire people to create artwork/photgraphs/etc specifically for the purpose of training, so they'll be properly compensated and there's no ethical issues. It's easy to do this from a technical standpoint and I'm hoping someone does soon.
