people underestimate the degree to which modern technology allows power centers to identify and gather information about us, but what people generally underestimate even more is how effectively power centers are able to use that information to influence our behavior, through youtube as well. there can be unintended effects too which makes it massively out of control, the racism of many algorithms being just one example of this.
