I think there is an argument to be made that ai isnt qualitatively different from a brush or a camera. Its rather an issue of effort. We wouldnt say "oh you arent a real artist if you use histogram equalization and color correction, thats the computer doing things for you!, you should edit the HDD with a magnetic needle and a steady hand" because i can pull a monkey out of the zoo and it could slap a keyboard and do exactly that, but it takes an eye to actually understand and manipulate color to serve an artistic purpose, to be pretty, to create emotion. Ai... is just an algorythm copying from its learning set. Its just an amalgamated search engine, ask for "a cat with a hat and a bat" and it will just pull the concepts out of its dataset. There is an argument that ai assisted art is still art, but the level of assistance is the important bit. The issue of stealing creative works however is still there.
