What's the beef, exactly? If people want the ai slob, let them have the ai slob. It's not like artist will stop making art because of it's existance. Musicians still exist even though we have records and mp3s *. Noone's comming for your hobby. Of course these people aren't artist, they are users, you wouldn't call someone pressing play a director or musician. That's what pisses me off about this whole AI-Thing. These tec-companies want people to pay for AI-output (preferrably in the form of a subscription-model) when in actuallity what they should sell are the models loras etc... and maybe some suitable hardware. This business-model is the same as having people pay to come to a hearing of a record by the time this technology was introduced instead of just selling the records and the players. And maybe, just maybe, artists themselves wouldn't have such a big problem with this technology, if a) their name was credited in the models, prompts, loras ect. people are consuming or using b) they had a say in their creation just like with records or could sell them themselfes and/or c) they get royalties from the sell of these software-snippets d) AI-output meta-data contained the information that it is AI-output and what training data was used to create it Maybe I just stumbled on a multi-million dollar business-idea here or maybe I'm just talking out of my ass, I don't know. But one thing is clear: Tec-bros are right when they say AI is here to stay, because other than the NFT-BS, this stuff is usefull and there are people who genuinly like it's output, slob or not. And most importantly: AI-models are ubiquitous and you don't need to be a million-dollar companie to run and own one on your computer, so even if big companies cut the crap, there are still thousands who can re-kindle the flames from their garage.
