So much of medicine is determined by algorithms. If this, then that. As a paramedic, i relied on protocols and algorithms to make decisions outside of a doctor’s supervision. Doctors working in fast paced environments like emergency departments do something similar, but with more freedom. But algorithms and protocols are designed to give them the right answer most of the time. It is mechanical and similar to a computer program. Once ai gets the protocol, they damn well better be able to follow it.
