saying its more economically viable is so stupid. I learned to draw in school notebooks with a HB pencil and honestly I don't think I've spent as long seriously learning as some other people. I honestly think that anyone can learn how to draw well if they spend a few hours (1 or 2 a day) following tutorials for a month maybe more. when I was a kid and I wanted a picture of a llama I looked up a tutorial on Youtube. I had hundreds of Sharpie drawings of animals when I was 10 years old and they took me a few minutes to do.
