ChatGPT is a part of this for sure, but the other major thing that jumps out to me is that a depressed person had such easy access to a gun. Notice how big a part the gun played in his fantasies, talking about loading it, the cold metal, finger on the trigger. The danger of owning a gun isn't just to those around you, it's also to yourself.
