Most Ai today isn't close to "Ai" was we think of it classically. It never thinks for itself. It takes a prompt, and then spits out a reply, with varying degrees of success and failure. It's more of a Vi depending on which school of terminology you follow. AGI sounds closer to actual Ai, if it can actively take in it's surroundings and make decisions from that, but I've never seen anything even close to that so far, and from all the mistakes we've seen with the current Vi it would be a disaster.
