AIs do not steal, they do not copy, they do not make collages and they definitely don't need permission. They do not incorporate. They do the equivalent of taking one single grain of sand from a billion sandcastles each, and build a new sandcastle. Every artist claiming that taking 1 billionth part or less from something they created, melting it down to slag and then moulding something else from it is theft makes me want to tear my hair out because of the arrogance and entitlement.
It tells me that if someone came by with a tweezer, took one grain of sand from every yard in the country and melted it into a piece of glass, these artists would demand to be paid and acknowledged for their singular grain of sand. Ridiculous, obscene and offensive to give any consideration or empathy to this argument. Just walking on their grass steals more sand and this is the hill you want to die on?
Any single artists contribution to the end result of an AI piece is, fairly measured, worth such a small fraction of a cent that actually calculating what it's worth would cost more than that worth, many many times over.
