This is too hyper focused on writing (Well, maybe not, it's what this is supposed to be about) and Cenk obviously doesn't get it because he thinks a free market is going to give a solution. The Free Market gave us GOOGLE, Twitter, and Tiktok, and where we are today where people are terrified of where their data goes and finally are realizing the value of their data, but still are doing barely nothing about it, basically finding another thing to purchase, VPN.
By the time society is able to choose wither they like AI writing or not, you will have mass displacement in writing and adaption for film or TV, the technology will get millions, billions more to pour in that man power replacement direction, and the library it pulls from will be much more advanced and varied. Also, because of how we react to things like Tropes, we probably will have a real difficult time telling the difference from AI and man-made after the dust settles from how much business-minded people interfere with the AI writing process. It'll basically be too late.
AI doesn't need to be designed in a way that would replace worker but make them more efficient, safe, or simpler. You talk about Truckers getting replaced by automated driving, that's not going to happen because you can always fool AI one way or another and you can't as easily pass the blame on to someone else. Shipping companies are still going to want one or two human passengers on these Trucks as thieves develop technology that can mess with the Truck routing or breaks to steal mass amounts of whatever they are shipping. Having a human on board to override the AI in those moments is going to be the cheapest solution.
Similarly, advanced AI can be used to proof read drafts and scripts while still understanding the colloquialisms human writers might create that would fool most regular proof reading applications. Ai might be able to be used to merge multiple plot lines together from writers to find the most effective place statistically to put them, and then be modified or proofed by the writing staff to see if they agree. AI also can be used to predict how an episode or script might be received by an audience, giving more data and also possible reducing cost in the need to test screen products. However, the problem is now that we are at a point where we can create AI as actual tools for the specialized workers to get them to produce more or better work, or we can create AI as a Tool that executives can use to replace hires. A lot of these enthusiast don't seem to understand the difference or long-run problem that the mass replacement of workers with AI is going to destroy capitalism in ways that might not be easily reparable. They seem to not understand that because they can't afford an artist to create their portrait or paint pictures for their children's book might actually be a good thing for the societal system as a whole. That rather than they put out the first draft of their stupid princess saving sci-fi fantasy into the market, they are forced to refine it until others also agree it's a good investment to put out there.
