Remember artists, not every artpiece needs to have a human hand and backstory to send a message. And bringing up NFTs is a total apples to oranges comparison, because enjoying AI doesn't require us to invest cold hard cash in a delusional blockchain "utopia".
There are a million things in the world we cannot afford to be dependent on algorithms with, but this AI may be like one of the very few fields that isn't going to make millions homeless, posioned, radicalized, crippled, or DEAD, like a bot that can play chess or tetris. It is crystal clear that black boxes can spread misinformation or discriminate in other settings, but targetting an open source community of transformative artworks for an unrealistic promise of justice is plain absurd.
Would you like to live in a future where "pride, joy, and long nights" are the pillars of reasoning against emulating other people's artstyles?
Would our society and culture be better if artists reserve the right for people to punish their admirers for painting with the same paint strokes and and patterns?
