I was in Tempe when they started the first Waymo trial area, I used it fairly regularly for a few years. Just seeing the improvement in design and functionality of the system over that time was astonishing. At first they were pretty jittery and had a few bugs to be worked out, but within a year, they were driving considerably smoother with far fewer hiccups. Within 2 years they started expanding service to other Phoenix suburbs, upgraded their fleet to new electric Jaguars, and started driving on the highways... yeah, the progress is real AF, yet I still get in arguments with my brother over whether or not driverless cars are even feasible... smh 🤦♂️
