We won’t reach WALL·E because of greed and corruption. We will have a dramatic increase in unemployment and homelessness first. Which will eventually followed by corporations petitioning government to increase welfare state as all profits dry up because no one can buy anything.
What will actually happen though is mass layoffs as they push people of the door in hopes that AI can do their jobs. Only to find out it doesn’t and is costing the company far more. They will then need to rehire people at a much higher rate.
