I can't wait for AI to replace doctors. Back in 2023 I had hypereosinophilia with heart palpitations and chest pain for which my family doctor prescribed hayfever tablets and a hematologist I saw out of pocket ignored altogether.
Hypereosinophilic syndrome must be immediately treated with corticosteroids to prevent irreversible heart fibrosis (Loeffler endocarditis). This has been known for 90 years and is recorded in mountains of literature and case reports.
Apparently, none of the doctors I went to heard of it. They considered it a mere "allergy", let the hypereosinophilic syndrome run its course, and so my heart was permanently damaged. It's unlikely I'll live to 40. It would've taken a course of corticosteroids costing literally a few dollars to prevent this.
When, out of morbid curiosity, I described my symptoms to ChatGPT in 2025, it immediately identified hypereosinophilic syndrome and suggested the right treatment. If I had AI as my doctor I wouldn't be dying right now.
