A combination of human intervention and AI support would be a powerful combination. I envision a world where when the physician charts, it automatically brings up a differential diagnosis. Ultimately, the physician decides upon the diagnosis and treatment, but AI allows the doctor to do their job better. It doesn’t make the physician any less of a physician. Compare it to the CT scan, it made it so the physician physical exam was secondary to the imaging in a lot of cases, but it allowed physicians to make more accurate diagnosis. The medical world should embrace this technology as a tool. It cannot replace physicians, but it can make them a whole lot better.
