I don't really understand why everyone is so happy. Doesn't anyone realize what some of this means? It means that multi billion dollars industries will maintain their power structures and keep control of what gets popular and what doesn't. Have you ever seen Disney, Hollywood, and the like EVER crap their pants the way that they did? This literally makes it so Ideas can be stifled by the big elite. I agree that AI generation can be lazy with prompts, but there are ways to make it not lazy like if you trained it with your own art style or your style of music, your own made up lyrics, etc. This literally put creative power into the people's hands instead of those with loads of money or power. I've made songs with lyrics for my kids, but now I'll probably never release them to the public because of this. It can be used artistically as a tool. This is so short sighted as a "victory" when we could have used it as a tool to take creativity from the elite. I thought everyone wanted big corporations to die. Who wanted this to pass the most??? The big corps that's who and here we are cheering them on. I think it shouldn't just be a blanket rejection, but with stipulations on what can be copyrighted like if you just used prompts for lyrics wthout any contribution etc.
