Interesting from Bernie,agreed with most points but where I disagree with him is that community cohesion will necessarily go down if we're all jobless. I think if anything people can put more of their energy into fostering relationships, protecting nature and making the world a nicer place to live in if all of their basic needs are met. Obviously this would require a strong redistributive mechanism (the public seizing the means of automated production), but this has the potential to be very good. I feel most people would be happier if they did something much more altruistic as a job, but at the moment the cost of living is too high, so people have to do work which doesn't necessarily agree with their principles but pays well enough to keep a roof over their heads. In this alternative world people can pursue their passions much more.
