This UBI statement of Geoff Hinton restores my credibility on him which was mostly lost when he started advocating his AI future doom prediction. Moreover, I totally agree that "UBI is necessary but not enough" therefore instead of UBI it should be renamed like Universal High Income (UHI) in the future of AI abundance.
In 1981, I published; "An Alternative to Marxian Scientific Socialism; Reduction of Working Hours Theory" which I rename as "Zero Work Theory". It had predicted that the progress in science and technology would make the human labour obsolete in the future which is what we see happening now.
