That is a very pessimistic view on automation. I work as an robotics engineer in germany. First of all, "automation", especially of tasks which require a lot of haptic feedback, are extremly hard to automate because the human system of sense and humans ability to make decisions is way better than anything you could design a robot to do based on the current state of control theory. In other words, automation and robots are not as advanced as most people think and automation is a very impressive feed ot engineering, where many peoply put a lot of work into. BUT I really do belive automation is a GOOD thing. At least in germany, my experience is that you do not have to fire people if you automate, because we really do not have enugh qualified staff and an aging population. Automation has the potential to allow companys to make more with less people, and thus help the country to keep running despite an aging population.I really do belive that automation and "AI" are part of the solution and not the problem.
