The response that I don't see enough to the 'what's the difference between a person mimicking an art style and an Generative AI model regurgitating an art style' is that a person trying to mimic another artist's style still brings their own biases and view of what actually constitutes the original artist's style. So if you took two people and gave them a still life photo and said 'do a piece based on this still life in the style of Artist A,' you're guaranteed to get two different pieces of art. But if you fed that same photo into an image-to-image Gen AI program and ran it 100 times with the same seed value, you'd get the same picture every time.
