We already know. There's a whole subfield of AI that works on finding how to reduce bias. Just because it's not talked a lot in the media it doesn't mean that it's not a known problem.
The real thing you guys should worry about and make noise is big companies not investing enough in this area and trying to ignore the problem. I think it was in the first half of this year that there was a big scandal with the fair AI department of Google or something like that because they had a paper that mentioned that one of their products wasn't being totally unbiased and the higher ups didn't agree with the article being published and fired the researcher.
