The most probable scenario in my opinion is this: In a world where everything is automated, most people cant afford to buy anything and are basically forced to either starve or live off the "leftovers" of the few rich people who can still buy things. This can end in 2 ways. Either people revolt and create an economy less reliable on automation so everyone can live a normal life again or the whole thing self destructs as the few rich people become fewer and fewer and can't keep the economy going
