I feel really fortunate, in this day and age, to hold the fundamental belief that privacy is a construct. As far back as I can remember, I've felt that rules only exist insofar as we all agree to pretend they exist, and that nobody really has rights besides what natural rights they can defend, and that that goes for privacy. (I'm NOT saying deepfake porn is okay, I'm NOT saying people shouldn't have and support one another's rights, I'm in public health and I'm ALL FOR society existing to protect and help each other enforce rights ... but I AM saying I've sort of always seen these problems as inevitable.) I feel sadness and protectiveness for people who are hurt by deepfake porn and other privacy/image violations. But hot damn do I also feel lucky that I'm just ideologically oriented to not care about it myself, because otherwise this whole era would feel a lot more frightening and stressful. I don't know if my mindset is something that can be learned/taught or if it's more of an innate values-matrix thing that different people just have built-into-our-fundamental-natures in different ways ... and I'm all for anyone's prerogative to feel and think according to whatever values they choose to hold dear, voluntary or not. But yeah, maybe it's a little nihilistic of me, but I've always thought privacy is fragile/essentially a game of violable etiquette, so I find it easiest to choose not to care about it (on my own behalf, that is; I still care about and view as valid the trauma of others who experience the issue differently than I do).
