His arguments are so weak when it comes to consciousness and subjective experience. He says researchers should treat the AI as conscious simply because it says it's aware? Surely, if it's trained on what people have said historically in training data, it will do this because it's mimicking them? Are we now to assume that the very realistic humans depicted in AI videos also have inner lives just because they so and this guy believes it? The idea he is putting forward is also quite dangerous, as it supports the delusions some people have around having "woken up" self-aware chat GPT.
