I agree that ai is just another tool, but generating an image and printing it is not art. There is no attempt to convey a message, no attempt to express a specific emotion. Just aesthetics.
If he printed it and then attempted to paint, I’d accept that. If he actually used it within some sort of narrative or in combination with other tools and skills I’d accept that too. But not this, not copyrighting a print that anyone could generate or steal.
