There is legitimate AI in art, and it features in one of my favorite movies in the past ten years,

The animations appear to be Pixar-quality CGI, but, in fact, they're hand drawn frames, but with semi-realistic lighting referenced from an AI lighting engine.
When AI is best is when it's used to enhance a medium not just imitate it.
