The reason Bill Gates cannot explain how artificial intelligence can transform the world for the better is because self interest is all consuming.
Artificial intelligence is a magnifying technology for imagination, if you can imagine multi trillion dollar industries over and over and over again and gift them to the the world then the world becomes a much better place. Then when every person realises that ideas can be tested and every person has high intrinsic worth then the proposal of ideas shows the world what is truly valuable.
