Hate seeing these old farts suddenly getting their moment of fame and really missing the point.
As one of the commentors who works intensely with AI, I will tell explain a similar and even worse time for IT. It was when everyone was getting their first PC on their desk in the late 80s and 90s when I was a PC / Server guy. You don't know how many people (almost all) were so frightened that PC's would take all our jobs.
These IT guys like Ellison and the counter PC revolutionaries who wanted Mainframe controls (like this guy) told us how PC's would end us all. Yeah, it was crap then crap now. Don't listen to it. Observe for yourself.
AI is here. Anyone's job get replaced by it yet? Oh, it made you stop making stupid mistakes more? Oh you can now write properly now? You can find better data now than with google search and pray? Oh, you can do some more designs even better and more variants to show clients? In what world has AI replaced anyone yet? Anyone seen these reports or we listen to these idiots ask us to obey? Yep.
