The "what are people going to do when there's no work left to do" is so pathetically bootlicky because it implies the only purpose we have in life is when capitalists create jobs for us to do and can't possibly even imagine what to do with ourselves if we're not pumping out corporate emails or being exploited in an animation sweatshop. The answer is whatever you want to do. People enjoy making art, they don't enjoy being forced to produce art for a boss or a client before a deadline to avoid starvation. They don't enjoy the job, they enjoy the activity we've had since before there were jobs. AI doesn't prevent you from creating art, it makes it unnecessary to produce art for a profit as a job under capitalism. What prevents you from making art is the reduction of income that happens when a job is no longer necessary, and the solution is a UBI. Nobody thinks trickle down economics is going to make us all rich from this, they think AI flips from being income negative to positive when you fight for a UBI instead of pretending we're going to stall technological progress in the 2020s for the next 7 billion years the earth will be around. If you sort out income, no sane artist could care if AI were out there producing slop to pay their bills, because they'd still be making art the same way they always did for people who enjoy it, and the only difference would be they consent to any work they do instead of having to work to avoid starvation and get to decide what and when they decide to make it instead of having to make the art their boss/client wants when they want.
