I feel like people who support AI art don’t understand art itself. Art is not just a process that can be shortened by a machine, it is a way of expressing yourself, your experiences and the things around you. Many people bring up technical things about copyright and whatnot, but many art babies (such as I) just want to put our art into the world, we didn’t know we were getting ourselves into. Before you say “oh well that’s on you, you should have read the terms and conditions”, well it kind of is, but that isn’t my point, what I’m trying to say is that AI art is scaring many young (and potentially highly talented) artists away because AI art can just do it better and faster. I understand social media is a horrible place, but many young artists need an outlet to express themselves especially in a world like this, where everyone has social anxiety and social media is supposed to “connect” us all. I’m not saying we should take down AI art because little idiots (such as I) didn’t read the terms and conditions, but I just want you to consider this issue from a perspective of an art baby, someone who just wants to continue doing art. TL;DR: art is a way for people to express themselves, and AI art is taking that away from people, because it’s scaring many young artists away as it can generate art that’s is much better, much faster. One thing AI can’t replicate is our humanity (by that I mean what we’re trying to express with our art) (sounds cliche) but it sure is making people not even try. I know the video is on how big artists feel about the issue, and I can’t comment on that, so I’m just putting my perspective out here.
