I mean, hot-take and hate me all you like; I like to use AI 'art' for references when learning to draw. The problem is that learning to draw on your own without any form of scholastic knowledge or teaching is there's nothing there to tell you it's correct or incorrect. And while we can always say that art is subjective and about your own style, it doesn't tell you what's ends up being an appreciable work. And we can always talk about real-life references but when I want to draw it's more toony-centric. But rather than just copy someone else's work for practice to try and mimic someone else's style, the AI will just butcher a bunch of preexisting pieces into one cosmic dreamscape that's sort of a medley all its own. In doing so, I'm not worried about copying someone else's specific style, and it helps me put concepts into practice without burning hours on something I'm going to tear out of my sketch-book and throw away. I'm just saying; it doesn't have to be "love" or "hate" with AI. There is a middle way, and I think rather than outright trashing on it as a concept, we can all agree that people who just rip art using bots kinda suck but we don't have to hate on a perfectly good tool that helps you learn a few things. Now I just wish it DIDN'T suck at hands so I could figure out how to draw those sausage-slingers efficiently.
