Alex is correct, I guess ChatGPT didn't want to scare Alex with quantum physics. Atoms will repel against each other due to their negative charges and never actually touch each other so yes - technically - when you clap your hands you don't actually touch them together - so theoretically speaking yes you can half the space infinitely and still clap.
The sound from clapping comes from an air pressure build up between your hands as you bring them together. As the air escapes in a sort of jet stream through the gaps in your hands it causes vibrations in the air which we hear as sound. The physical touching of your hands isn't necessarily what a clap is. Something similar would be popping a balloon, rapid escaping air pressure is what creates the pop.
Why couldn't ChatGPT come up with this haha.
