I think AGI will not rely entirely on LLMs as they are capable of doing some of the things that AGI needs, but there's other consciousness and awareness type things that AGI needs to develop. Likely LLMs will form part of the solution and they'll have to somehow instrument the AGI characteristics into the LLM that's going to be complex. In a similar way to human decision making is often influenced by something hardwired, which has buried itself deep into this self-conscious mind.
