There is a profound difference between hyper-intelligent AI and artificial awareness (AA). There’s some confusion on these terms and it’s really based on the fear of artificial “self awareness”. Not AI. We don’t even know what awareness is yet for ourselves in order to create AA. We would have to understand that first to purposely create AA. We all know that we are “alive” because of our own self awareness. However we can’t really explain the “why” or “how”. But even if today’s AI state that they are alive, they still wouldn’t comprehend what that really means. In my opinion, I don’t think AA is even possible because our own awareness is not achieved through a binary backbone like a computer device is. It’s much more and complex than that. Even hyper-intelligent AI could not become self aware on its own. It needs a human element to create it, and it’ll have to be more complex than just binary machine language.
