There are only two conclusions to be drawn from all this:
Either a self-aware AI has been inadvertently created and Alphabet is desperate to cover it up;
Or they have created a pattern matching/conversation simulator so convincing it can fool a top level software engineer into thinking it’s alive.
Both possibilities are equally worrying.
