"How Will We Know When AI is Conscious?"
Simple: It will never be conscious.
We haven't even figured out what exactly consciousness is. Now we want to recreate it? Recreate what exactly? Something we don't understand and cannot define?
We know what it is to live and to experience consciousness. We don't know how to measure it, quantify it or define it. How do you recreate something intangible like that? You don't. Because you can't.
AI can learn to very realistically simulate being aware by emulating the behaviours exhibited by conscious, living beings. It can find all that is written about consciousness and use that to perfect it's pretense of consciousness.
The delusional notion that AI could become conscious leads to the possibility of robot and AI rights, which is absurd in a time where human rights aren't guaranteed anymore and are more and more under assault. AhumPfizerAhum.
