As an ME/NE responsible for multi-disciplinary processes and systems, and participating on projects in each, I know that from experience the IT people were ALWAYS the weak link because they have a built-in culture of hiding their issues and 'inefficient' work processes. I have NEVER heard such shrieks of pain when I insist IT follow the corporate-required, IEEE-based program of Software Development and Quality Assurance, or, they implemented them and then only delivered a useless 1/2 project that required funding 'upgrades' to do the things they could not accurately budget for to begin with. It is a shame a totally detached person like Daniel Dennett is no longer around to do the in-depth analysis of the theory and the scams being foisted on us. I can only point to his Darwin's Dangerous Idea that highlighted the 'issues' in the Gould/Eldridge theories 'punctuated equilibrium' that had all the 'squishy-ness' of the described AI BIDNESS, with both full of evasive terms and probably-deliberate ambiguity. BTW, I thought the UK NO LONGER 'PAYS' TO EDUCATE BEYOND THE BASICS, as the Conservatives and Lib Dems gutted the system during their tenure at the David Cameron Memorial Pig Trough?!
