You all should know the problem with AI is that it can be whatever and we have no way of making sure it will be "aligned" to us. If we just continue development of capacity and not alignment, we are essentially gambling our future. From all the possible moral alignments an AI can have only a couple lead to a good/utopian future, and the rest vary between total apocalypse to dystopian nightmare. We are 50 years behind in alignment, but of course, with secret tech we can assume 20-30 years behind.
How I see things progressing in maximum 5 years, not 5-10(10 years is absurdly hopeful): 0-15% chance of a good scenario; 0-15% extermination or near extermination; 70-100% versions of a dystopian nightmarish future. Every scenario will last for a very brief period of time, because the next big step from cracking intelligence, is managing to exploit the quantum world (leaving our local 4d universe, and exploring the multidimensional quantum soup, or the omniverse) which very elegantly, coincidentally solves the fermi paradox. At this rate I'd say we have about 10 years before either we, we with AI, or AI alone leaves the earth and our universe, and very likely only about 5 years of relative normalcy.
