As someone who believes in understanding, and am also a digital artist that has been drawing since I was a child using ms paint on my grandma's computer, I will explain the creative process to anyone that could be reading this. It starts with an idea, this can come from anywhere(A dream, taking a shower, walking your dog, esc), let's go with a sleeping cat on its owner's lap. Now research, trying to find how you can execute the idea, mainly images that you can find to help you understand what you're doing(Pictures for anatomy, scale, and even references for the background). Now it's time to start executing your idea, which often starts with a sketch, the sketch is important, as that is the meat of what you're drawing, so make sure that it's clear enough for you to see what is going on. And finally, it's time to make the final version of the picture, this is very broad, as there are many different ways to do this part(Painting, thick lines, thin lines, cartoon, realism, black and white, colored, 2D, 3D, esc), so make sure you do what you feel is best for the piece. Now, if you look at art made by AI, it skips all the steps, and fast travels to the finished product. And the only thing that makes it worse, is that it's both taking away to human touch, and stealing from people that actually did the creative process.
