I'm an AI expert, trained/designed 100s of models, have a PhD, this video is clickbait. It's almost right, but the spin on "under the mask" is weird and inaccurate tbh.
Long story short, an AI model is a capable tool. The RLHF and other "alignment" finetuning steps exist to make that tool safe and usable. A "mask" implies something sinister exists beneath, but alignment finetuning genuinely changes the very essence of the model.
The terrifying behaviour AI exhibits is because it's not properly aligned, not because the mask is slipping.
