My main concern is not that AI is going to be able produce work of the same quality as a skilled senior developer does, because an unthinking statistical AI is not capable of that. My real concern is that management at my company believe the hype and think that AI will be able to replace us soon, rather than just assisting us, and they're making head count decisions based on that fantasy. But the reality is that without a skilled developer reviewing and testing AI generated code, the quality of the software systems produced would be catastrophically bad and would inevitably lead to business failure if blindly trusted to develop critical systems.
