Let me put it simply. Your brain is a neural network, literally. It's simply neurons arranged in particular ways. It's just a matter of time before we can perfectly scan the position and connections of every independent neuron in a human brain. Then, simulate it. There is no intrinsic metaphysical property of the human mind that couldn't be replicated with 1s and 0s (maybe inbetweens if it works with quantum spins and such).
Consciousness is a spectrum; you could remove a person's neurons one by one and the difference in each step would be completely invisible, yet the person would eventually be completely empty of thought, so saying machines don't have feelings is very egocentrical; who's to say a far smarter species out there consider us simple minded creatures no better than a microchip.
TL;DR, machines will eventually surpass our brain perfectly, there's no way around it
