When he says at the end that taxing AI companies is "not in his economic interest to say that" -- THIS IS THE MINDSET THAT NEEDS TO CHANGE. It *is* in his economic interest to make sure that "ordinary people" still have their basic needs met (at a minimum) if we're going to allow AI to replace the work those people do today. The wellbeing of other people IS in his economic interest -- especially the wellbeing of his fellow citizens. To say otherwise is to believe wealth alone is sufficient and that he can be an "island unto himself" -- that wealth and profit alone are all that matter because that's what keeps him alive. If AI is so good at replacing jobs people no longer need to do, then why not cut the standard work week in half and allow people the time and resources to explore new ideas, create art, spend time raising their children, help people in their communities find solutions to problems from fixing infrastructure to homelessness...
