Give them a highly complex reward system that gives them good points on empathy. Another one that says good points = happy, bad points = sad, and adjust this for all the other emotions. They don't need to feel them, they just need to understand and fit into them and see the merit in experiencing, hopefully producing an AI than can be taught and trained to become an actual human, then we make that AI teach another AI, that AI teach another, and another, until we have AIs for every single year until a human is, let's say 25. Then the AI "Graduates" and is ready to help humanity. We are simply making humans without making another dividend in food or living space.
