I don't buy that we can't just "pull the plug" when we humans have complete control over the "ecosystem" AI needs to exist. That would require all humans to agree and follow through on that action which seems highly improbable at this time. If that is their reasoning, they should have stated it. The gentleman shows his emotional attachment to the technology he's devoted his life to when, at 1:08:42, he can't provide a clear answer to Steven's question of shutting the whole thing down if he had the magic button to do so. He even had to change the question's parameters before providing an answer. IMO, credibility has been lost. Pull the damn plug and find a way for everyone to follow through. WE HAVE THE CONTROL. Saying we don't is the same as refusing to cross a street because the light on the other side is red.
